Secretary of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Sameer Hleila, denied reports which were published on Wednesday afternoon, claiming that the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ahmad Qurei, Abu Ala’, suffered a heart attack, and is currently in a critical condition in the Jordanian capital.

“I personally phoned him this afternoon”, Hleila said, “He is in a good health and will return to the country of Thursday”.

Israeli online daily Maariv reported, on Wednesday afternoon, that Qurei suffered a heart attack after a tensed discussion between him and the legislative council, and that he is currently in a critical condition in the Jordanian capital.

Qurei was on his way back from France to the P.A areas through Jordan, and suffered the stroke in Jordan, Maariv reported.

Meanwhile, Hleila added that Qurei will start a series of meetings in an attempt to form a new government directly after returning from Jordan.

“Qurei’s government has two options; it either resigns and become a transitional government, or places itself under the direct control of Abbas”, Hleila said, “It is still early to know what Qurei plans, in spite that he intends to resign”.
