An Israeli court recently ruled that the state should compensate a Palestinian family; the Israeli army killed their father in Bethlehem.

The state should compensate the family of Dr. Ahmed Othman from Al-Khader village near Bethlehem who was killed in 2002, who was director of Al-Yamameh Hospital in the city.

Despite a recent law passed by the Israeli Knesset which prohibits the compensation of Palestinian victims of the Israeli army, the family’s lawyer Na’eleh Ateyyeh managed to get the court to rule that the state pays the family some NIS 1 million, in compensation.
