Israeli soldiers stationed at Beit Forik checkpoint arrested on Wednesday afternoon Souheb Abu Thabeit, 21 from the village of Beit Forik north of the West Bank city of Nablus.
Thabeit, a student in al-Najah University in Nablus, was detained at the checkpoint for several hours before troops decided to arrest him, eyewitnesses reported.
The reason behind the arrest remains unknown.
