Israeli artillery resumed its shelling of Beit Hanoun northern part of the Gaza Strip, the Maan News Agency reported.
 
The shells landed and detonated in open areas close to Beit Hanoun.
 
An Israeli military source said that the shelling came in response to homemade shells which were fired at Israeli targets.
 
According to the source, one Qassam homemade shell landed south of the Israeli city of Ashkelon, no injuries were reported.
