The acting Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, instructed the security department to accelerate the construction of the Separation Wall in the West Bank.
The decision was initially made during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday and was considered as part of what was described as "contingency plans" in case Hamas movement wins the Palestinian legislative elections.
Now, after Hamas swept a vast majority in the Palestinian legislative council, Olmert said that Israel should speedup the construction of the Separation Wall in the occupied West Bank.
The Qatar based Al Jazeera TV reported that Olmert "made it clear to the government" that the Wall should be completed as soon as possible.
Israel, and since the planning stages of the Wall, always referred to it as a "security fence", but on the ground the "fence" is eight meters high concrete wall in most of the areas, with fortified monitoring towers on its various sections.
