Adli Ya’eesh, the mayor of the West Bank city of Nablus, stated in a press conference on Tuesday that the Nablus Municipality is holding talks with Arab and Islamic groups to receive financial support for the municipality.
Ya’eesh issued a press release stating that the municipality initiated talks with with several Arab and Muslim countries after several donor countries, and the United States, decided to freeze the financial aid to the Palestinian Authority after Hamas won the legislative elections.
He added that several Arab institutions asked the municipality to prepare development plans to present to them in order to weigh means of supporting the municipality.
The municipality already prepared the plans and sent it to several institutions, and is currently waiting for response.
It is worth mentioning that Hamas won 13 out of 15 seats in Nablus municipality.
