Tuesday at dawn, Israeli soldiers shot and killed an Egyptian resident while attempting to infiltrate into Israel through the borders with Egypt.

According to Israeli media sources, the man is a drug dealer who was trying, along with five other men, to smuggle drugs into Israel.

Soldiers opened fired at the six men and killed one of them; the five other men managed to return to the Egyptian side of the border, Israeli military sources reported.

The sources added that drugs were found near the body of the killed man. The man was unarmed; initial investigation carried out by the army indicated that the soldiers followed the open-fire orders they have on the border, an  area that has witnessed attempts to smuggle arms into the Gaza Strip.
