After the Israeli army shelled the Gaza beach killing 10 civilians, including two infants aged 6 months  and 18 months, and injuring forty other residents, army spokesperson “apologizes” and says that the incident could be labeled as “work accident”. At least forty civilians were killed in the attack.

Head of the Israeli Army Southern Command, Major General Yoav Galant, claimed on Friday evening that the army is “looking into the incident and the circumstances of the explosion.

According to Galant, “the more likely scenario that a shell strayed from its path, the army was also exploring whether the explosion might have been caused by a work accident."

Israeli army chief of Staff Dan Halutz ordered an end to the shelling of northern Gaza until the completion of the investigation into the civilian deaths.

The military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said that it would renew its suicide bombing and attacks in Israel and the occupied terrorists after Friday’s attack against Palestinian civilians.

The Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said that the response will be “especially painful”.
