Wajeh Qawas, the Mayor of the West Bank city of Qalqilia, was transferred from Howwara detention center to an Israeli hospital after suffering from a heart condition, on Saturday morning.
Farres Abu Al Hassan, Qawas’s layer said that he had been trying to get the Israeli authorities to move Qawas from that detention center due to the lack of medical care and facilities that Qawas needs due to his heart condition. Initially the army refused the transfer and said that they have no control over the decision, that the decision most come from a higher political level.
Qawas was released from the Israeli jail last April after serving 44 months and was arrested again this past week in the Israeli army arrest raids, in which 87 Palestinian legislators and government officials were arrested.
