Secretary-general of the Arab-League in Cairo, Amr Mousa, slammed the international community for not seriously dealing with the continuous Israeli aggression and attacks against the Palestinian people.
Mousa told journalists in Cairo that Arab and regional efforts were exerted to defuse the tension in the occupied territories but they yielded nothing as a result of the slow international reaction in dealing with this issue.
Mousa added that contacts were made with the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyya, for consultations regarding the latest events.
Mohammad Sobeih, Mousa’s assistant for Palestine’ affairs described the situation in the Palestinian territories as “extremely bad” and “nightmares of environment catastrophes that will affect the entire region”.
Also, head of the Palestine Scholars League (PSL), and lawmaker Dr. Marwan Abu Ras, urged the Arab and Muslim leaders to stop their “passive stand” and assist the Palestinian people facing the continuous Israeli military aggression.
Palestinian Legislator Husam Al Taweel said that Israeli wants to destroy the Palestinian aspirations for independence and freedom.
Taweel, a Christian legislator, said that the government of Ehud Olmert is going on with its “aggression plan” and is waging “an unjustified outlawed war against the Palestinian people under the pretext of freeing the captured soldier.
