Palestinian medical sources and eyewitnesses in Gaza reported Saturday evening that the Israeli army shelled the Al Shujaeyya neighbored in Gaza City, killing a mother, her five-year old daughter and her twenty-year old son.

A medical source at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza identified the victims as Amna Hajjaj, her son Mohammad Farid Hajjaj, 20, and her daughter Rawan, 6. Four other family members were injured, one seriously.

Local sources in Gaza reported that an Israeli tank stationed close to the Karni Crossing, east of Gaza city, fired several tanks shells at Al Shujaeyya.  One of the shells directly hit the house of Hajjaj family.

The Israeli army denied responsibility for the attack but confirmed that it carried a strike in the area.

Army source said that troops also carried out an airstrike just after midnight near the Karni crossing, wounding three fighters.
