Abbas met foreign officials Wednesday to discuss the current social and political situation in the Occupied Territories as it relates to Israel. The President met with leaders from Spain, the UK, the EU, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
Among the topics discussed were: recent developments caused by the
continued military incursion into the Gaza Strip. the harsh living
conditions brought on by the international community’s decision to
withhold aid and the formation of a national unity government that
would act in the best interests of the Palestinian people. The
president emphasized that the international community take immediate
action to revive the peace process, address Palestinian suffering and
work towards a “just and comprehensive” solution to the Palestinian
question.
