Israeli soldiers stationed at the Qalandia Crossing, south of the West
Bank city of Ramallah, detained reporters working with Dubai satellite
Channel after claiming that they attacked and hit a female soldier. The
reporters were transferred to an interrogation center in Jerusalem.
Shorouq Al Aa'ad, an anchor woman working with Dubai Channel said that she was detained along with the cameraman, Ahmad Jalajil, and his assistant Mohammad Sarhan, after the soldiers stationed at the checkpoint, which was transferred by Israel into a crossing, claimed that they hit a female soldier.
Jalajil denied the Israeli claims and said that he and his colleagues were filming a documentary about the suffering of the Palestinians on the checkpoint during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but then the female soldier came over and obstructed their work.
Jalajil added that the Israeli attacks against the reporters are in direct violation to the International Law and agreements.
He demanded human rights organizations, and institutions that defend the rights of reporters, to pressure the Israeli government in order to stop its assaults against reporters.
