The village of Wadi Fukin, west of Bethlehem, has been targeted by
Israeli soldiers due to its water resources, rich agricultural land and
its short distance to Jerusalem. It is also situated near the illegal
Israeli settlement Betar Illat, which leaves it open to violent settler
attacks.
The Israeli government has already taken much of the village’s land to make room for more illegal settlements, but soon the village will be split in half once Israel’s full plan is realized.

The Popular Committee to defend against Land Confiscation spoke out against the military’s moves that will ultimately destroy the village as part of it will be severed from Jerusalem. The Committee issued an appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court, demanding that the Israeli government stop.
