Israeli soldiers shot and killed one Palestinian near the Karni
Crossing, east of Gaza. The resident is the first casualty in the Gaza
Strip since the Palestinian factions declared cease fire on November

The resident was identified as Ala' Makkawi, 21; he was hit by several rounds of live ammunition in his head, medical sources reported.

Makkawi is apparently member of Fateh faction.

Israeli military sources claimed that Makkawi approached the boundary fence adjacent to the Israeli settlement of Nahal Oz, close to the Gaza borders.

The sources added that soldiers who fired at him “were not inside the Gaza Strip”.

Makkawi is the first Palestinian to be killed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip since resistance factions declared ceasefire and stopped the firing of homemade shells under the condition that Israeli stops its attacks and assassinations.

In a separate attack, several Palestinian fishermen were injured as they were fishing in Rafah sea, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The fishermen were injured after the army fired a missile at their boat, IMEMC correspondent in Gaza reported.
