During a session for Israel’s “security Cabinet” on Sunday, several
Israeli ministers warned that Israeli would carry a large military
offensive in the Gaza Strip if Palestinian fighters continue to fire
homemade shells into Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Minister of Transportation, Shaul Mofaz, stated that Israel will operate against the leaders of Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip if the firing does not cease.
Mofaz added that Israel will carry all of the needed measures “to secure the lives of Sderot residents, and residents of other Israel town in the Negev”.
Israeli Defense Minister, Amir Peretz, said that “the Israeli self-restraint policy” is weakening Israel”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Jihad Movement fired three homemade shells at Sderot and warned that its fighters would continue to fire shells if Israel does not halt its attacks not only in the Gaza Strip, but also in the West Bank.
Palestinian factions and Israel agreed on a ceasefire last month, but there had been separate incidents of homemade shells fired into Israeli areas close to the Gaza borders after the army carried attacks in several Palestinian areas, especially in the occupied West Bank.
