Israeli Defense Minister, Amir Peretz, claimed on Monday during his
security cabinet session that he will instruct the army to remove 59
out of 400 checkpoints installed by the army in the West Bank.11:11AM

Peretz did not set a timeframe for removing those checkpoints.

During the session, several Israeli ministers demanded a military operation in the Gaza Strip after Palestinian factions fired homemade shells into Israeli areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip.

Several homemade shells were fired into Ashkelon and Sderot, no injuries were reported.

Israeli Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Yacov Edry, said that these incidents are serious and that Israel “must act in order to end the suffering of Ashkelon and Sderot residents”, and called for a unified Israeli response.

Several other minister said that Israel must show the Palestinians that “patience has limits”, and that it is only a matter of time before Israel fires it missiles into the Gaza Strip.
