The Palestinian Information Center, controlled and run by Hamas,
reported on Tuesday that a member of the Executive Force that belongs
to the Ministry of Interior was killed in an explosion in Beit Lahia,
in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Executive Force was formed by Hamas movement after it won the legislative elections last year.

Islam Shahwan, spokesperson of the Executive Force, denied media reports which claimed that a vehicle that belongs to the force was targeted by an RPG shell near the Force’s center in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Shahwan added that the force was not subjected to gunfire, and that investigations in the causes of the explosion are still ongoing.

He also said that the explosion was apparently caused by an “internal accident” and that there are no external parties involved in the explosion.
