A weaponized drone from Lebanon on Sunday night bombed an Israeli military base south of Haifa, killing 4 and wounding 60 – all of them active duty Israeli military.

According to the Israeli Ha’aretz newspaper, the Israeli medical organization Magen David Adom sent rescue teams to Binyamina military base south of Haifa, where over 60 Israelis were wounded in a Hezbollah drone strike, in addition to four killed.

The US government announced that it is sending Israel a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system, along with a crew, in preparation for an Israeli strike on Iran. According to GovConExec, the cost of this system is estimated at $23 billion.

The US has already gifted Israel an additional $40 billion for its genocide against the people of Gaza this past year (in addition to the regular military and financial aid provided each year by the US government).

This latest US donation, which is meant to continue the escalation of Israel’s war of aggression against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, comes in the midst of multiple disastrous hurricanes in the US, which affected a number of states in the southeast of the United States. Despite the lack of funding for emergency support for US citizens experiencing these crises, the US government has decided to instead prioritize sending a $23 billion weapons system to Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli aggression against Lebanon continues – over 2,000 Lebanese people have been killed, and over 1 million have been forcibly displaced from southern Lebanon – including the forced removal of two Palestinian refugee camps in southern Lebanon.

Israeli forces invading southern Lebanon continue to target United Nations Peacekeeper troops that have been stationed there for decades. On Sunday, the Israeli military drove tanks toward the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) headquarters, forcibly entering the main gate.

For its part, Hezbollah, the resistance group located in southern Lebanon, reported that its soldiers

  • Clashed at zero distance with the Israeli enemy forces in the vicinity of the town of Mays al-Jabal, south of Lebanon.
  • Killed and wounded Israeli soldiers and clashed with them at zero distance outside of Mays al-Jabal
  • Launched a squadron of attack drones on a training camp for the Golani Brigade in Binyamina, south of Haifa”

The group, whose leader Hassan Nasrallah was recently killed by Israel in a bombing of an entire building, stated that Monday’s attack was “a response to the Israeli attacks on the neighborhoods of al-Nuwairi and al-Basta in the capital Beirut and tin other regions of Lebanon”

Hezbollah also stated, “The resistance will not hesitate to do its duty in deterring the Israeli enemy and will remain ready to defend Lebanon and its people.”
