Taiseer Khalid, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and member of the political bureau of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, demanded the Lebanese government to protect the Palestinian refugees living in Nahr Al Bared refugee camp.Khalid stated that the camp was repeatedly shelled by armed groups and demanded that the Lebanese authorities intervene to protect the refugees.
He added that Palestinians and Palestinian refugees in the country are part of the joint Palestinian-Lebanese struggle against Israeli occupation, noting that all Palestinians stood firm alongside their Lebanese bothers in resisting Israeli invasions and wars against Lebanon.
Khalid also stated that all Palestinian factions in Lebanon and the Palestinian Liberation Organization respect and support Lebanese sovereignty and unity, and expressed regret over the massive force used against refugee camps in the latest round of fighting.
He called on the Lebanese administration to intervene and halt these attacks in order to avoid painful outcomes resulting from the actions of some irresponsible groups that want to harm the Palestinians and the Lebanese.
Moreover, Khalid called for an immediate ceasefire in order to save the lives of Palestinians and members of the National Lebanese Army, and to enable the Red Cross and the Red Crescent to reach the refugee camp and evacuate the victims.
