JERICHO, April 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Four Palestinians were injured on Tuesday in an attack by Israeli colonists on park-goers at Ein al-Awja, north of Jericho, in the occupied West Bank’s northeastern part.
According to WAFA correspondent, colonists, under the protection of Israeli forces, attacked the citizens who were enjoying a visit to Ein al-Awja on the third day of Eid al-Fitr. The colonists sprayed them with pepper spray and physically assaulted others, resulting in injuries and burns of varying severity to four citizens.
The assailants also brought a herd of sheep with them and released them to graze in the area, in an effort to force the visitors to leave the site.
Ein al-Auja has been subject to frequent attacks by colonists, who have established several colonial outposts in the surrounding area over the past few years, in an attempt to take control of the land and water resources of the area and prevent local Palestinians’ access.
In related news, illegal paramilitary colonizers, accompanied by Israeli soldiers, invaded Douma village, south of Nablus in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, burning farms and cars and shooting three Palestinians.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
