The Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, reported on Tuesday evening that one of its prominent leaders and two of his associates survived an assassination attempt carried by Israeli forces in Qaffeen town, north of Tulkarem city, in the northern part of the West Bank.
Eyewitnesses reported that at least 14 military jeeps invaded the town and surrounded a vehicle that carried Fadi Kittani and two of his companions, and detonated the vehicle. The three fighters managed to escape from the vehicle just before the blast ripped it off.
Kittani survived four previous attempts on his life in recent years, the Al Quds Brigades reported.
The brigades added that as Palestinian security forces were chasing Kittani and his two companions in an area north of Qaffeen village, at least ten Israeli military vehicles and jeeps that carried under-cover forces surrounded the vehicle of the fighters.
The fighters then exchanged fire with the Israeli forces and managed to escape unharmed shortly before the army detonated their vehicle.
Later on, Israeli soldiers conducted military searches of home, the army withdrew from the area shortly afterwards.
