Dr. Mahmoud Zahhar, a senior leader of the Hamas movement, stated Thursday that Hamas did not close the door for a deal on the captured prisoner of war, corporal Gilad Shalit, but has some reservations on the Israeli demands.

His statements came after he and other Hamas political leaders return to the Gaza Strip following a meeting with the movement’s leadership in Syria.

He was accompanied by Dr. Khalil Al Hayya and Dr. Nizar Awadallah.

The Hamas leader stated after arriving at the Rafah Terminal that the talks were focused on Shalit deal, reconciliation with Fateh movement, and the
Wall Egypt is building, under American supervision and support, along the border with Gaza.

He added that Hamas did not close the door for a Shalit deal and will announce its position at a future date, the Hamas-run news Website, Palestine Information Center, reported.

Dr. Zahhar said that the movement submitted its reservations to the German mediator who will deliver them to Israel and likely to the Egyptian leadership.
