Hundreds of Turkish citizens and activists held a protest on Tuesday evening in front of the Egyptian Embassy in the Turkish capital, Ankara. The human rights activists, including parliamentarians, protested until dawn hours of Wednesday. They gathered after the Egyptian security forces attacked members of the humanitarian convoy carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza. The attack led to several injuries among the human rights activists.
In Turkey, the protestors chanted slogans slamming the stances of the Egyptian government and Egypt’s President, Hosni Mubarak.
Another protest was held on Wednesday at night in front of the Egyptian embassy.
The Viva Palestina Convoy started entering the Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening following two days of stand-off with the Egyptian Authorities and police.
The convoy was initially forced from Aqaba Back to Syria and then to Al Arish in Egypt.
On Wednesday, 35 Palestinians were wounded by Egyptian gunfire when hundreds of Palestinians ralied near Salah Ed Deen area in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
