Egyptian security sources reported Saturday that Border Guard policemen managed to arrest eight Eritreans and two Ethiopians while trying to cross the border fence in an attempt to infiltrate into Israel through Sinai. The sources added that the immigrants were spotted near the border mark area number 52, and were immediately arrested and taken for interrogation.
In related news, Israeli Border Guards arrested 20 African immigrants while trying to enter Israel through the same marker but on the Israeli side.
The detained African nationals admitted that they paid nearly 10.000 USD to smugglers in Sinai.
They are scheduled to be deported after interrogation.
Dozens of immigrants from Africa were detained by Israel and Egypt recently while a number of fatalities were reported after they came under Egyptian fire in most cases.
