A Sudanese man was shot and wounded by Egyptian police fire on Wednesday evening as he tried to infiltrate into Israel from an area south of the Kerem Shalom Crossing. The Egyptian Authorities said that the man was 4 kilometers south of the Crossing when the Egyptian police saw him and opened fire at him after demanding him to stop.
He was wounded in his left thigh and right leg and was moved to the Rafah Hospital the Egyptian city of Rafah.
According to Egyptian security sources, the man, Abdul-Salam Hussein, 26, admitted to paying 1000 US Dollars to Egyptian smugglers, and that he intended to seek asylum and work in Israel.
