The Israeli government and the office of Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, issued a harsh condemnation to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank for naming a street in the central West Bank city of Ramallah after a slain fighter of the All Qassam Brigades of Hamas. The street, where most government offices are located, was named after Yahia Ayyash.
The Israeli Radio reported that naming the street after Ayyash is “incitement and support to terrorism”.
The Israeli army assassinated Ayyash in 1996 as Israel holds him responsible for several bombings that took place in Israel and led to several casualties.
