A Palestinian fighter was killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli troops who invaded Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood in the central Gaza Strip, Friday noon, Palestinian medical sources reported. Dr. Mu’awiya Hasaneen, chief of emergency services in Gaza, said another fighter was wounded and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Israeli military issued a statement about the incident saying that an Israeli military unit patrolling the borders with the Gaza Strip identified an armed Palestinian trying to plan an explosive charge.
The military claims the fighter threw a hand grenade at the Israeli soldier who responded by firing back at him, killing him and wounding another.
