On Tuesday afternoon, Beitar Illit settlers torched a number of olive trees that belong to residents of the village of Husan.The settlement of Beitar Illit is located between the villages of Wadi Fukin, Nahalin and Husan, west of Bethlehem.Jamal Sbatin, the president of the council of the village of Husan reported that settlers torched a number of olive trees in the region of ‘Ein al-taka, adjacent to the settlement of Beitar Illit. The trees are owned by residents of the village: Ibrahim Hamamra, Lafy Shosha, Helmy Darwish, Fadil Shousha, Mahmoud Shousha, Ghaze Shousha and Hatem Sbatin.
Sbatin stated that Palestinian Civil Defence Fire Team was able to to put out the fire after initially being prevented from reaching the location of fire.
Beitar Illit, is a religious Israeli settlement, established in 1985, known for having the highest birth rate amongst Israeli settlements. All such settlements are illegal under international law.
