The Israeli army abducted a 17-year old Palestinian boy in the Old City of Hebron late on Saturday night, according to local sources.Local witnesses said that a boy identified as Fakhri Salayma, 17, was taken away by Israeli soldiers from his home without being given a reason for his detention.
The Israeli military had reportedly reinforced security measures across all West Bank cities and districts, anticipating retaliation for recent killings of Palestinian civilians by Israeli troops.
Several days ago, Israeli troops invaded Hebron and killed an elderly man who was asleep in bed — the troops were allegedly attempting to assassinate the man’s son and killed the father by mistake. Such targeted assassinations are violations of international law, but are common practice by the Israeli military.
After this and other recent attacks by the Israeli army, the army increased military patrols at entrances to Palestinian cities and erected roadblocks in different areas.
