Ishmael Khaldi’s lecture at the University of Edinburgh, hosted by the university’s Jewish Society, was cancelled after protest by students acting in support of Palestinian refugees.Khaldi, special advisor to Avigdor Lieberman, left the stage after 45 minutes, having been unable to speak due to the group of approximately 50 protestors, whose presence was not removed by security.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, Ledys Sanjuan, President of the Internationals Relation Society at the university stated:
‘The IR society had a long discussion about hosting Ishmael Khaldi. We came to the conclusion that providing a platform for a representative of the Israeli state would be at the expense of the millions of Palestinians who live under Apartheid.’
