The international Gaza aid flotilla that was at the centre of an international Israeli diplomatic crisis last year is due to set sail again for Gaza in the coming months. The aid flotilla will set sail from Cyprus in the third week of June, according to YNet. Organiser’s claim it is twice the size of last year’s flotilla.
During last year’s attempt to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza the flotilla was boarded in international waters and nine of its members were killed including eight Turks and one Turkish American.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, has called on Israel to avoid confrontation with the flotilla, according to YNet.
Israel has vowed to stop any attempt to break its naval embargo of the Gaza strip.
