The European Commission announced Monday that it granted the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank additional €115 Million ($165.11M) to help in development projects in the Palestinian territories.The Commission stated that these projects are related to the health sector, education, and water distilling projects.
Some of the money is also meant to be used to finance institutions in an effort to provide jobs.€40 Million of the allocated amount will be paid to the UNRWA to support its projects and services.
EU Commissioner, Stephen Foley, stated that the aid money is meant to boost the efforts to establish an independent Palestinian State, and added that this financial support clearly proofs that the European Union is fully committed to a peace efforts based on the two-state solution.
The new EU donation rises the number of financial support granted the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank this year to €300 Million.
