Fkahri Abu Thiab of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem, stated that Israeli soldiers have concluded the establishment of an outpost near the “Seven Arches Hotel” on Mount Olive, in occupied East Jerusalem, the Palestine News & Info Agency, WAFA, reported. The outpost overlooks the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Old Jerusalem, Abu Thiab added.
He added that activists managed to document the final touches conducted by the army in the outpost, and that the army had a few offices installed in the area, but started working with the settlers to turn it into an outpost, with full infrastructure, including roads and electricity. Most of the work was conducted at night.
Abu Thiab also said that the army installed surveillance cameras on the buildings to monitor the Al-Aqsa mosque, the Ar-Rahma Graveyard, and other surrounding areas.
Besides infrastructure, several caravans were brought into the area, an issue that would make it easier for Israel to turn the new outpost into a settlement that extends on Mount Olive, to boost Israel’s illegal occupation of occupied East Jerusalem.
