The Israeli Air Force carried out, on Sunday at dawn, several airstrikes targeting different areas in the Gaza Strip, mainly in central and southern Gaza, inflicting seven injuries among the Palestinians, medical sources reported.The army claims that it bombarded three facilities “used for manufacturing weapons” in addition to bombarding two siege-busting tunnels in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

According to the army, the bombarded facilities belong to fighters of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, and the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.

Furthermore, Israeli Arabic language online daily, Arabil, reported that a press release issued by the spokesperson of the Israeli Army stated that the airstrikes were carried out in retaliation to the death of a Lieutenant killed during an exchange of fire with Palestinian fighters near the border with Gaza.

The incident took place after a Palestinian fighter managed to breech the border fence on Friday; the fighter was killed by Israeli military fire.

Later on, the army carried out several air strikes targeting different parts of the Gaza Strip. Earlier on Saturday, a Palestinian man succumbed to wounds sustained on Friday when the Israeli army fired two missiles a motorcycle in Khan Younis wounding three.
