Palestinian medical sources reported that one resident was killed on Wednesday evening when a barrel fell on him as he was working in a siege-busting border tunnel, in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Adham Abu Salmiyya, spokesperson of the Medical and Emergency Services in Gaza, reported that Ghassan Ramadan Radwan, 40, was killed, while resident Kamal Mohammad Abu Reeda, 45, was injured.
It is worth mentioning that more than 200 Palestinians were killed in similar tunnel accidents since Israeli imposed the deadly siege on Gaza in mid-2006; hundreds were injured.
In related news, resident Ibrahim Haidar Al-Bol, 27, died of wounds suffered in November of 2000; he was shot by Israeli military fire in the head less than two months after the second Intifada started, and continued to suffer from several health complications, including epilepsy, infections, and repeated incidents of losing consciousness.
