Israeli soldiers attacked on Friday the weekly nonviolent protest in Nabi Saleh village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and fired gas bombs and rubber-coated bullets at the protesters in addition to spraying them with waste-water.Local residents and international peace activists marched chanting slogans against the Israeli occupation and Israel’s illegal settlements. Furthermore they protested the ongoing and escalating settler attacks against the West Bank residents, their homes and lands.

They also denounced the ongoing American support to the illegal Israeli occupation and Obama’s recognition of occupied Jerusalem as the “united capital of Israel”.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers were deployed around the village, and on its entrances, especially in Ein al-Qous area that was illegally confiscated and around lands that Israel intends to confiscate.

The Ma’an News Agency reported that, earlier on Friday, the army detained 11 activists, including a cameraman, as they attempted to enter the village to participate in the protest.

Clashes were reported after the army attacked the protesters, as several youths responded by hurling stones at the army.
