[Sunday, December 15, 2013] Palestinian medical sources have reported that a Palestinian child was moderately wounded by Israeli army fire, east of Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qodra, stated that Israeli soldiers shot a 16-year-old only identified by his initials (M. Sh.), seen on his left leg as it crossed the border fence.
The child was on Palestinian land, and did not approach the border fence, local sources said.
He was moved to the Kamal Odwan hospital in northern Gaza.
There have been dozens of similar cases, including fatalities, when Israeli soldiers opened fire at Palestinians working on their land, or collecting scrap metal, near the border area.
Israel enforces an illegal buffer zone preventing the Palestinians from entering their lands, which are located close to the border fence.
