Prisoner Wahid Abu Maria from Al-Khalil (Hebron), detained since October 2012, has halted a three-month hunger strike which he had initiated to protest his administrative detention in Israeli prisons, The Palestinian Information Center reported.According to the PNN, the head of the Legal Unit in the Palestinian Prisoner Society, Jawad Boulos, said that Abu Maria has suspended his hunger strike at Wolfson hospital following a release agreement with the Israeli prosecution along with a number of pledges including his right to family visits, letters, and return to Ofer prison.

In a related context, Boulos stated that the prosecution took into consideration Abu Maria’s deteriorating physical condition and the several swoons and the heart attack he had suffered.

Palestinian administrative detainee Akram al-Fassissi, detained since November 2012, is due to be released in August.

According to Boulos, the decision came after he had appealed to the Supreme Court to release al-Fassissi in the given date, to which the prosecution officially accepted and in writing. Al-Fassissi had gone on hunger strike for 70 days protesting his continued administrative detention, without trial or charge.
