Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org, for Thursday April 24th, 2014.

Israeli tanks invade parts of the Gaza strip while troops kidnap eleven civilians from the West Bank. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.

A number of armored Israeli military vehicles invaded Palestinian farmland east of the al-Qarara town, northeast of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, uprooted and bulldozed the invaded lands, and opened fire at nearby homes.

Local sources reported that five Israeli tanks, and two armored bulldozers, advanced more than 200 meters into the farmlands and bulldozed them.

Vehicles left the nearby Kissufim military base, across the border fence, and fired rounds of live ammunition at homes and structures in the area. Israeli military helicopters were also seen flying over the area while the army invaded it.

Also in Gaza, Israel’s navy opened fire at fishermen off the coast of northern coastal enclave. The Israeli army claimed that the fishermen were out of the designated area for them.

As part of the Oslo Accords, Palestinians are allowed to fish in 20 nautical miles of coast. However Israeli navy forces impose 3 nautical miles limit on Palestinian fishing boats.

Elsewhere, eleven Palestinian civilians were kidnaped by Israeli troops during dawn and morning g invasions targeting West Bank communities.

Israeli soldiers invaded Deir Samet village, near southern West Bank West Bank city of Hebron and kidnapped eight Palestinians, two more Palestinians in Nabi Saleh, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and one near Tubas in northern West Bank.

Local sources reported that soldiers assaulted the two kidnapped young men from Nabi Saleh, and fired concussion grenades at their homes. Soldiers also attacked family members inflicting various injuries.
