[Friday, May 30, 2014] The Israeli army claimed that its soldiers managed to foil a “suicide bombing attack”, at the Za’tara roadblock, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.According to the army, a Palestinian, carrying an explosive belt, was arrested as he was trying to cross the Israeli military roadblock, the Maan News Agency has reported.
The army added that the young Palestinian man “looked suspicious” to the soldiers as he was “wearing a long coat despite the hot weather’, and that the soldiers ordered him to stop but he kept walking.
The soldiers then pushed the man onto the ground, and found the explosive after removing his coat, an army spokesperson stated.
Army engineers arrived at the scene and defused the device; the soldiers closed the roadblock and forced the Palestinians away.
The army believes the young man allegedly intended to detonate his explosive belt at the roadblock.
