The Palestinian Ministry of Education has reported that the educational sector of the Gaza Strip has sustained a staggering $33 million of losses, as a result of the recently-halted conflict in the Gaza Strip.According to Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency, the figure includes $14 million of losses for governmental schools and an additional $3 million for UNRWA schools.
The ministry explained, in a report issued by the Public Administration of Buildings and Projects, that three high educational governmental institutions reportedly worth $502,800 were damaged, in addition to nine worth $10,595,116.
49 non-governmental schools worth $2,581,200 were also damaged, in addition to 199 kindergartens worth $1,145,240, Al Ray further reports.
At least 2,140 Palestinians — mostly civilians — were killed and more than 10,000 injured in over a month of relentless Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, with numerous targets to include Palestinian civilian infrastructure.
