On Monday, a Palestinian young man succumbed to serious injuries he sustained on Sunday near the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilia in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.

The General Authority for Civil Affairs announced Monday, that the young man Bara’ Bilal Issa Qabalan (21 years old) died from gunshot wounds he sustained one day earlier, adding that the army continues to withhold his body.

Occupation forces opened fire with live ammunition towards a vehicle travelling on the Qalqilia-Nablus road near Azzun town, on Sunday evening, killing the young man Mo’men Nidal Abu Riyash (19 years old) and critically wounded Qabalan.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that the army prevented its ambulance crews from reaching the wounded young men and proceeded to seize the body of the slain Abu Riyash and the seriously wounded Qabalan.

For its part, the Israeli army announced after witnessing three Palestinians throwing stones near Azzun town, its soldiers “responded by firing, resulting in the death of one and the neutralization of another.”

The army admitted that “no injuries occurred among our forces,” and added that a third young man was arrested at the scene.

In related news, occupation forces opened fire at a citizen’s vehicle in the town of Burqin, west of Jenin in the northern West Bank, on Sunday evening.

In a statement, the army announced that “During an offensive operation carried out by an Israeli army force in Burqin…a (Palestinian) tried to run over the force, and the fighters responded by firing at the car, and a hit was observed,” adding that “no injuries occurred among his forces.”

Official Palestinian sources reported that a 12-year-old child was shot with live bullet fragments in the knee while he was on his bicycle after occupation forces stormed the town and opened fire with live rounds.

Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces and colonizers have killed 258 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, including 52 children and 7 women.

Since the beginning of the year, occupation forces and illegal settlers have killed 83 Palestinians in Jenin, 46 in Nablus, 31 in Tubas, 27 in Hebron, 22 in Ramallah, 17 in Tulkarem, 10 in Jerusalem, 9 in Bethlehem, 9 in Qalqilia, 3 in Salfit, and 1 in Jericho, according to the Shireen Observatory.

In the Gaza Strip, the overall death toll since October 7, 2023 has increased to 70,365 including women and children, while at least 171,058 Palestinians have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of Israel’s military onslaught.
