Archbishop of Sebastia from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of occupied Jerusalem, Theodosios Atallah Hanna, said the Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, and every part of occupied Jerusalem, continue to remain determined to defend their homes and lands despite Israel’s escalation and constant efforts to remove and displace them.
His statements came while welcoming a delegation from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem and discussed the constant and escalating violations they face by the Israeli government and the illegal colonialist settlers.
“We salute our people, steadfast in Sheikh Jarrah, in the Old City, in Silwan, Jabal al-Mokabber and every part of Jerusalem,” Father Hanna said, “Our cause is not just a legal matter, it is an existential issue deeply rooted in our soil, history and belonging to this Holy Land; they want to uproot our Palestinian people, and their history, but we remain steadfast.”
“The Palestinians in Jerusalem continue to defend their city and their history; the powers of oppression can’t defeat their determination and their will to remain in this holy land,” he added, “We salute our people in Sheikh Jarrah who continue to defend their homes and history, who remain determined to continue to exist in their city.”
