Since last night and until this morning, Thursday, Israeli soldiers have abducted at least 25 citizens, including former prisoners, from several parts of the occupied West Bank.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said that the number of detainees since the start of the occupation’s aggression on the northern West Bank governorates yesterday has reached 45.
This number only includes confirmed and documented cases and is subject to change as the Israeli army continues its escalation.
It is worth mentioning that these abduction campaigns are among the most consistent and systematic policies used by the Israeli army.
They are also part of the main measures of the illegal Israeli policy of collective punishment against the entire Palestinian population, which is a central tool for the occupation in targeting citizens amidst the comprehensive aggression against the Palestinian people and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The Committee and the PPS stated that the Israeli occupation forces have abducted more than 10,300 Palestinians from the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, since October 7, 2023.
They added that the figures are only for the abductions in the West Bank and do not include the Gaza Strip, where the army abducted thousands of Palestinians without releasing exact figures or further information about them.
On Thursday morning, Israeli soldiers shot and killed Mohammad Bassam Orabi, 32, in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank’s northern part; his death brings the number of slain Palestinians in the West Bank in three days to 18 (August 27-29).
It is worth mentioning that, late on Monday night, August 26, illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers killed Khalil Salem Khalil Ziyada, 40, and moderately injured three in Wad Rahhal village, south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers have now killed 669 Palestinians, including 152 children, since October 7, 2023, in the occupied West Bank.
