On Sunday evening, Israeli soldiers attacked the funeral procession of a recently released Palestinian detainee who died a day earlier in the town of Al-‘Isawiya, northeast of the occupied capital, Jerusalem, in the West Bank.

Media sources reported that Nael Obeid, 46, was released a week earlier as part of the sixth stage of the indirect ceasefire and prisoner-swap agreement, after spending 21 years in Israeli prisons. He died when he fell from his home’s rooftop in the town.

The sources also reported that as Palestinians were holding the funeral procession and ceremony, Israeli soldiers attacked them with a barrage of gas bombs. Many Palestinians, including those in their homes, suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

It is worth mentioning that Obeid was abducted in 2004, tortured, and interrogated for an extended period before an Israeli court sentenced him to seven life terms and an additional 30 years.

In related news, the soldiers invaded Hizma town, northeast of Jerusalem, especially the town’s eastern area, and fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades.
