The Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Grandi, on Monday pledged his country’s readiness to provide support to the people of Palestine in the face of the ongoing Israeli aggression, particularly in the last several days with the repeated desecration by Israeli troops of the al-Aqsa Mosque.
The al-Aqsa Mosque is the third-holiest site in Islam – a religion practiced by a billion people worldwide. The mosque is especially important during this month, as it is the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast and pray for thirty days.
On Monday, the Tunisian Minister Grandi expressed his country’s position in support of the struggles of the Palestinian people in the face of the policy of displacement, destruction, confiscation and replacement carried out by the occupying power.
He added that Tunisians stand with Palestine in the face of the continuous attacks on the holy sites. Islamic and Christian, in particular, the recent ongoing attacks on the Temple Mount, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, which are being carried out by the Jewish State with the state objective of taking over and dividing the mosque.
In turn, Palestinian President Al-Maliki expressed his thanks to his Tunisian counterpart for Tunisia’s honorable position on the Palestinian issue, and expressed the readiness of the State of Palestine to coordinate with the Tunisian government on how to confront these Israeli aggressions, preserve the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Al-Haram Al-Sharif, and prevent any changes to the temporal status quo by Israel’s recent aggression.
The two ministers discussed the joint efforts being exerted to hold Arab ministerial meetings to confront those repeated Israeli attacks.
