In Rafah, located in Gaza’s southernmost area, emergency crews recovered the decomposed body of a Palestinian from the city’s shoreline.
The Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Rafah is facing a critical shortage of essential medicines and food supplies needed for patients. The healthcare system in Gaza is experiencing a severe depletion of more than 75% of essential medications, putting medical treatment at serious risk.
The hospital’s stock of medicines and medical supplies is only sufficient for one more week, and most medical services will cease without immediate intervention.
Meanwhile, a child, Jenan Saleh Skafi, died from malnutrition and dehydration at Al-Rantisi Hospital in western Gaza. Reports indicate that approximately 60,000 children are suffering from malnutrition due to Israel’s blockade, which has prevented the entry of essential supplies—including food, water, medicine, and fuel—into Gaza for more than two months.
Medical sources in Gaza said approximately 60,000 children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition due to Israel’s ongoing blockade, which has kept all border crossings closed and prevented the entry of essential supplies—including food, water, medicine, and fuel—for the past 64 days.
UNICEF has warned that over 96% of women and children in Gaza are unable to meet their basic nutritional needs. A United Nations report also states that 1.95 million Palestinians—out of Gaza’s total population of 2.2 million—are facing critical food insecurity.
From the earliest days of the war, starvation—particularly in northern Gaza—has been weaponized, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and intensifying the suffering of civilians under siege.
In early March, Israel concluded the first phase of a ceasefire agreement, which lasted 42 days, but later refused to proceed with the second phase or end the genocide.
Following the end of the first phase, Israel once again shut down all border crossings leading into Gaza, blocking humanitarian aid to use starvation as leverage to pressure Hamas into accepting its terms. Later, Israel also cut the limited electricity supply to the water desalination plant in central Gaza.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 52,418, the majority of whom are children and women. Thousands remain buried beneath the rubble since October 7, 2023, with emergency and civil defense teams unable to reach them.
More than 118,091 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been injured since the war began. Many victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings, with emergency services unable to provide rescue or medical aid.
