Illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers attacked international solidarity activists and Palestinian residents at dawn on Thursday in the Bedouin village of Shalal al‑Auja, north of Jericho, in the occupied West Bank’s northeastern part.
Hasan Mleihat, general coordinator of the al‑Baidar Organization for Bedouin Rights, stated that the colonizers from nearby illegal outposts stormed the village and assaulted international solidarity activists who were present to protect Palestinian families.
Mleihat noted that the activists, together with unarmed villagers, confronted the attackers and forced them to flee.
Bedouin communities across the Jordan Valley have faced escalating, systematic assaults by colonizers in recent months.
These attacks target both Palestinian residents and the foreign peace activists who stand alongside them, underscoring the intensifying campaign of terror against vulnerable communities in the area.
In related news, seven Palestinians were injured on Thursday after Israeli colonizers attacked farmers between the towns of Halhul and Beit Ummar, north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern part.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits collective punishment and acts of terror against civilian populations.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
Articles 53 and 147, prohibit the destruction of civilian property and classify pillage as a war crime.
