Forced Displacement of Citizens in Tulkarem and Nur Shams Refugee Camps
For the 18th consecutive day, Israeli soldiers continue their aggression in the city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp, in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank. The assault on Nur Shams refugee camp has entered its fifth day, featuring ongoing sieges, home invasions, and forced displacement of residents, along with a widespread abduction campaign.
This relentless aggression has led to extensive damage to infrastructure and properties, forcing thousands of citizens to flee their homes in Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps.
Early this morning, Israeli soldiers abducted several young men from the Thannaba neighborhood, east of the city, after storming their homes. Those abducted include Ahmad Samir Abu Jarad, Hussam Al-Haj Ahmad, Mustafa Al-Haj Ahmad, and Jamil Al-Haj Ahmad, while Eyad Abu Zahra was abducted from his home in the western neighborhood of the city.
Furthermore, the soldiers invaded Attil town, north of Tulkarem, stormed and ransacked homes and abducted Eqab Attili.
Last night, the Israeli army deployed additional military reinforcements to the city and its refugee camps. The soldiers patrolled the streets and neighborhoods, particularly in the eastern and northern parts of the city, as well as within the refugee camps.
The Israeli soldiers continue to besiege the eastern neighborhood of the city, specifically Al-Muqata’a Street and Abu Safiya Junction.
They have also seized residential buildings, turning them into military outposts, and continue to restrict the Palestinians’ movement, even preventing them from opening windows.
Simultaneously, the soldiers fired live rounds randomly and intensively in the Tulkarem refugee camp, especially in the Al-Matar neighborhood. They stormed homes, causing widespread destruction and vandalism, and seized several homes, converting them into military posts and sniper positions.
The suffering of the citizens who remain in their homes on the outskirts of the camp continues to worsen due to the tight siege and ongoing attacks.
They are continuously appealing for the delivery of food supplies, drinking water, medicines, and baby formula. The humanitarian situation is deteriorating due to the disruption of essential services such as water, electricity, and communications following the destruction of the camp’s infrastructure.
In Nur Shams refugee camp, Israeli bulldozers continue to demolish homes and destroy infrastructure within its neighborhoods, particularly in Al-Manshiyya. This destruction is accompanied by the sounds of live fire and explosions.
The demolition and destruction coincide with the Israeli soldiers imposing a tight siege on the Tulkarem refugee camp and its outskirts, turning it into a military outpost.
The army continues to invade and vandalize homes, forcing residents to leave under threat and intimidation.
The refugee camp witnesses a large-scale displacement of residents, including women, children, and the elderly, who endure hardships walking amid the massive destruction of streets, heavy rains, and severe cold, while facing the threat of Israeli gunfire.
On Wednesday, Israeli soldiers used the loudspeakers of the refugee camp’s mosque in Al-‘Eyadah neighborhood to demand citizens evacuate their homes immediately.
